What We Become marks the opening of Page Contemporary with a selection of work by artists whose practices reflect the quality, individuality, and depth that will shape the gallery’s program.
The title speaks to how experience shapes perspective, how ideas evolve, and how our choices influence what comes next. It also speaks to new beginnings and the ways a gallery takes shape over time, through the work it presents, the artists it brings together, and the relationships it builds.
Brought together in a new context, the works enter into a dialogue that extends beyond any single piece. Distinct in approach and method, they find a natural harmony in the space, revealing new qualities in one another. This coming together marks a moment of possibility for the work, the artists, and a gallery program just beginning to take shape.
As the inaugural exhibition, What We Become introduces Page Contemporary’s commitment to presenting exceptional work with the care, context, and prominence it deserves, contributing to a wider contemporary art conversation from its home in La Jolla.
